Hachette Book Group (HBG) has announced a major leadership change. Gabrielle Gambrell will take on the role of Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer. This appointment signals an exciting new direction for the publishing giant.

David Shelley, HBG’s CEO, revealed the news in early August 2024. Gambrell will step into the shoes of Sophie Cottrell, who departs after 16 years of service.

As a member of the executive management board, Gambrell will oversee crucial areas. These include the Hachette Speakers Bureau, corporate branding, and internal communications. She will also manage media relations, strategic communications, and environmental initiatives.

Gabrielle Gambrell’s Impressive Industry Journey

Gambrell brings a wealth of experience to her new role at Hachette. Her career began in mass communications, working on the Emmy-winning show “Live with Regis and Kelly.”

Most recently, she led communications for Inclusive Experiences and Technology at Amazon. Prior to that, Gambrell made history at Barnard College of Columbia University. She became their first Black woman and youngest Chief Marketing & Communications Officer.
